Stealth

In a tech seminar at IDEAS Suprastudio, a team of twelve students designed and fabricated an interactive, kinetic skylight called Stealth. Developed after extensive research on motion and natural light, the skylight features aluminum panels that open and close based on sunlight direction and time. Controlled by stepper motors and an iPad, the skylight offers multiple modes, such as day, night, and party, redefining skylight functionality. Inspired by the Calatrava garage door, the design incorporates mirrored and black panels to manage light effectively, enhancing user experience.

This project involved a full interior and exterior remodel of a mid-century Alexander home by Charles Du Bois, nestled in a cul-de-sac in Vistas Las Palmas. The renovation restored the historic residence while adding a master bedroom and Casita, earning recognition from the AIA Inland California. Set on an oversized lot with unobstructed San Jacinto mountain views, the home features terrazzo floors, a stone fireplace, open beam ceilings, and a raised jacuzzi in the landscaped yard.
